SpringOUT Cabaret and Pride Awards, Canberra 2017

The SpringOUT Cabaret and Pride Awards night is being held December 2, 2017 at the Mercure Hotel Canberra. Dine on a sumptuous buffet, enjoy a glamorous cabaret extravaganza and congratulate this year’s community award winners. Be sure to dress to impress.

Being part of the official pride festival of the Australian Capital Territory since 1999, SpringOUT celebrates LGBTIQ communities in the nation’s capital every year. Starting with Fair Day, there are various events during the festivities, culminating with the most distinguished of them all — the SpringOUT Cabaret and Pride Awards night.

Stealing the show this year, the queen of the Melbourne cabaret circuit and 2017 Artistic Director of the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, Dolly Diamond will headline the Cabaret and Pride Awards night. She’ll be joined by ex-Canberran and Tinseltown TV Talk Show host Miss Holly Wood.

Winning in the ACT

It’s already been a winning year for the ACT. Adding more than just a dash of vibrancy to an overcast Canberra day, the recent SpringOUT Pride Parade lit up the streets of Civic, much to the delight of passersby swept up in rainbow revelries. And this year, the parade was led by ACT chief minister Andrew Barr, the first openly gay premier or chief minister of any state or territory, along with his partner Anthony Toms.

2017 also saw expansion of the EPIC-NSW PrEP Study into the territory, ensuring free access to PrEP for at least 315 residents. The AIDS Action Council of the ACT also partnered with an online pharmacy to offer free PrEP coupons to anyone with low income or financial hardship. You can discover how to get PrEP in Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory, including information for accessing the study, as well as how to apply for the coupon scheme.

As for the awards, you’ll just have to be there to find out the well-deserving community award winners in the categories of:

In addition, the Canberra SpringOUT Association Committee will present awards for:

  • and more…

You can book online and keep up to date with the event on Facebook. Dress code? Think extravagant. It’s only once a year after all.
