Doctors and sexual health nurses
First up, we recommend checking in with a doctor or sexual health nurse for medical advice, particularly if you’re thinking about starting, stopping or changing the way you use PrEP.
While any doctor or sexual health nurse practitioner can prescribe PrEP, not all might know about it. Some community groups below have maps of PrEP prescribers across the country. Australia has PrEP prescribing guidelines for clinicians with up-to-date information on who’s suitable for PrEP, how to prescribe it and how to use it safely.

About: PAN (PrEPaccessNOW) is an online PrEP community offering information and support. They also provide free PrEP coupons for anyone who cannot afford to buy PrEP. Join the public Facebook group to post a question or join the discussion.

Coverage: Australia-wide
Features: Their website includes a map for finding a doctor, info on importing PrEP from online pharmacies and how you can apply for free PrEP if you can’t afford it. Expect helpful advice for getting PrEP — particularly for anyone without access to Medicare.

Features: With over 20 thousand members, the conversation is fast-paced and up to date with the latest news and innovations. Questions often focus on navigating the US healthcare system, but there’s also representation from many other countries.
